Asprin and quiet, please...

As this short week, well for me anyway, drew to a close we had an action packed weekend to look forward to.   Friday morning began with a gym session training one of my fave clients...After an hour of putting him through his paces, Matt joined me in the gym. We are both exercise freaks which is good because I really think it is super important to work out with your other half, if you are that way inclined.  Shared - rather than separate - physical activities are a great way to spend positive time together and enhance that special bond....I like to say, travel and train to sustain... For my workout I focused heavily on my chest and ass due to my weekend outfit choice (see below)...I always find that hitting areas hard that matter for your planned outfit is a great idea.  Physiologically it makes very little or no difference in the short term; but where it does make a difference is in the top two inches...if you know your arms, for example, will be on show and you have worked them hard, and you can feel it, you will wear what you wear with more confidence, thereby owning it more...it's all in the mind, you see...

A quick pack (only one case) and not so quick lush-up and we are in the car heading to Dubai for the weekend...We totally love living in the capital but it is fantastic having the glitz and very bright lights of Dubai less than an hour away...

Oberoi
Oberoi

We checked into the Oberoi...a nice addition to the plethora of outstanding five star hotel options in the most decadent city in the Middle East...and headed to the 27th and rooftop floor of the hotel to have cocktails at Iris...Nestled among the skyscrapers, with a view of the world's tallest tower on your right and the blue of the Arabian Gulf on your left, this super chic Beirut-imported bar comes recommended; and justifiably so...We enjoyed aperitifs taking in chilled out house beats as the sun set pink, fiery red and orange...reflecting off the sea in front of us...

Iris
Iris

We had to tear ourselves away from Iris to our room three floors below, and preparations for the evening ahead...I went with:

  • hair, straightened finished with Shu Uemura serum, immac;
  • lashes by Mac (loving them right now - http://www.maccosmetics.com/product/13837/1038/Products/Makeup/Eyes/Lash/12-Lash);
  • lipstick - Chanel Rouge Coco Shine - Shipshape colour (tangerine, basically) (http://www.chanel.com/en_US/fragrance-beauty/spring-2016-collection-140346);
  • a fuchsia pink sleeveless bodysuit from Bebe in chiffon;
  • a black high waisted pencil skirt also from Bebe (http://www.bebe.com/Clothing/Bottoms/Skirts/Solid-Bandage-Midi-Skirt/pc/636/c/218/sc/221/63890.pro);
  • finished with my beautiful Luciano Padovan fuchsia gold heeled stilettos;
  • Valentino Garavani 'va Va Voom' leopard print bag - a favourite and amazing...

Flashes of pink are very spring 2016; this is a slick look that suits where we are going (high end, swanky) and a good combination of real - world high street numbers, and a few splashes of luxury goods (so one is not decked head-to-toe in LV and thereby avoiding looking like, well, a knob).

By 8.30, 30 minutes late, obvio, we arrive (last) at Nobu, in the Atlantis on the Palm...We have previously dined at Nobu, a staple in the culinary scene of most global cities, and it is fabulous...Personally I am not a huge fan of the raw fish and acquired tastes of a lot of Japanese food, but no fear...A visit to such a sophisticated and stylish restaurant as this; frequented by somebodies and nobodies, the food takes second place (don't tell the foodies) to dressing to the 9s and people watching...The purpose of this evening's visit is to attend an Nth Degree event hosted together with Billecart-Salmon champagne...the evening was outstanding.  We caught up with good friends and finished late...very late. Much fizzy French beverage was enjoyed and I woke this morning feeling...well, you know how it feels....
